Destructuring...
The artwork “Destructuring…” presents art from the Finnish National Gallery’s collection in new ways by destructuring the source artworks into discreet collections of colored dots and re-organizing them. This process generates new non-representational compositions from representative art, while utilizing the original artist’s choice of colors and proportions. The viewer first briefly sees the original artwork mapped to a grid of 32x32 dots, which is then incrementally re-organized and transformed into a new composition, creating contrast between the artist’s “true” original structure, and the machine’s interpretation of a “perfect” mathematically arranged structure.
The name of the source artwork for each piece in the collection is used in the name of the generated artwork and displayed when viewed in 16:9. More technical details about the generated work are available in its on-chain traits.
“Destructuring…” was a part of the Combine24 generative art competition by the Finnish National Gallery.
